Darryl Rudolf – Head Coach
Hello all my name is Darryl Rudolf and I am extremely excited to come back to my roots and be the head coach of the Boundary Bay Bluebacks. I am a very proud to be an alumni of the Bluebacks and I strongly believe I was taught the love of the sport here with the Bluebacks. I started swimming with the Bluebacks when I was 10 years old until the age of 14 when I made the switch to winter swimming. I have been swimming year round ever since and I love the sport. I started high school here in Tsawwassen until grade 11 when I made the switch to University Hill in Vancouver because I wanted to swim with a club in Vancouver. Right now I am currently working on my Anthropology degree at UBC.I have had some international success along with success in Canada as well, with a gold and silver medal at the World University Games and 5 years of winning at the University level in Canada. I have been coaching as a volunteer with the UBC Dolphins for 3 years and been working with the Vancouver Pacific Swim Club. Coaching has always been the next step for me as I love all the aspects of swimming. Once I started coaching I became aware at just how challenging and fun it can be and that is a big reason why I love competing and coaching. This year with the Bluebacks I am looking forward to having fun with the team while helping everyone get faster.
Courtney Triano – Coach
Courtney is returning for her second year as a Bluebacks coach and her third year as a Bluebacks swimmer. Courtney is in her first year at Simon Fraser University working on an English major and a World Literature minor. She is a member of the Simon Fraser varsity swim team, she was also a winter swimmer for several years before starting summer swimming. Courtney is a NCCP Level One certified coach, and she has her Standard First Aid, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and NLS. She was working with the winter maintenance group this winter and can't wait to get the summer season started. She hopes to share her swimming knowledge and skills with her swimmers in a fun and positive way. She hopes to build not only skill, endurance and fitness but also character. Courtney is very excited to be working with all of the new and returning swimmers and coaches. Feel free to contact her via email or phone. See you guys at the pool.
Michelle Lowndes – Coach
My name is Michelle Lowndes and it is a great pleasure to be returning to the club this year as a Coach. Some of us are late bloomers… I was definitely one of them. I joined B4 in 2004 after coming back from the Dominican Republic. I knew no one, so my mom decided to sign me up in a sport that summer. I joined and after many moans and “mom it’s too early”, I fell in love with the club. I have now been with the club for five years and look forward to it every summer. This club is a great example of fun and competition; I started off not knowing my strokes to competing last year and doing well I may add. I was terrified on my first day and can still remember how great everyone was to me. I even met some great friends along the way, one becoming my best friend. To this day, we are like band-aids and skin…inseparable. I truly believe that this club has helped greatly in making me who I am today. I am more confident and loved Volunteer coaching in 2007 and Jr. coaching in 2008 to winter of 2009.I am currently studying at Delta Secondary School and completing my grade 10 year. I’ve just completed my lifeguarding courses and looking to spend even more time at the pool! This club is truly my second family and I am so excited to be starting coaching this summer. Get ready for a fun year swimmers!!! I sure am!!
Vanessa Clark – Coach
I've been a part of the Bluebacks swim club for about 12 years and I've loved every minute of it! I will be graduating from South Delta Secondary in June and cannot wait to start this swim season.I am a certified Level 1 NCCP coach and I am also working towards finishing my certifications to become a lifeguard. I have been coaching the Winskill Dolphins Swim Club for the past three years and I was a volunteer coach, and then a junior coach with Bluebacks. I also coached my highschool swim team this year. I'm really looking forward to a successful, fun season with Bluebacks this summer.
Sarah Munro – Junior Coach
This will be my 12th year of summer swimming and I can’t think of a better way to spend the summer. I’m currently finishing grade 10 at Delta Secondary School plus I help out with swim lessons at Winskill Aquatic and Fitness Center. I’ve qualified for provincials for nearly every year in my favourite stroke which is butterfly. This will be my second year coaching for the Bluebacks and I will be completing WSI, LSI and NLS by the end of the summer. My goal as a coach this year is to help you become a better swimmer with proper technique and an good understanding of all four strokes and of course having fun doing so. I can’t wait to see all your smiley faces at the pool this summer! :D Emma Siegmund – Junior Coach
I have been a member of the Boundary Bay Bluebacks Swim Club for nine years and have had a wonderful time both in and out of the water. I am currently in grade ten at South Delta Secondary School. I have been both a summer and winter session Volunteer Coach with the Bluebacks as well as a Junior Coach for the past two years. I have also held a coaching position with the Southpointe Academy School swim team. I am working on my courses towards becoming a lifeguard. I am looking forward to returning to the club this summer as a coach and all of the fun and games that goes along with it.
